Scoring

Match Scoring

During each match each of the three judges will complete a Score Sheet. The score sheet to be used in group stage matches at the finals in St. Andrews is here; the score sheet to be used in all other matches is here.

During the group stage of any tournament, there is no match winner; the points awarded by the judges matter only for Tournament Scoring (see below).

During the knockout stage of any tournament every match has a winner. Each judge has a vote with each judge’s vote going to whichever team receives a higher score on his/her score sheet. (If a judge awards equal points to the two teams each team receives half of his/her vote.) The winner of the match is the team that receives more votes. If the two teams receive an equal number of votes then the winner is the team that receives the most points in the match.

In the knockout stage of any tournament, if the two teams receive equal votes and equal points then

  • if it’s the championship match in the finals: the two teams are co-champions
  • if it’s any other knockout stage match: the winner is the team that ranks higher according the “Tournament Scoring” formula (below).

Tournament Scoring

To determine a) progression to the knockout stage of any tournament, b) seeding in the knockout stage of any tournament, and c) progression to the finals among non-regional-winners (when applicable; this is not applicable for the 2026 Cup), each team is ranked according its average points-per-match during the group stage of the tournament. Among teams that have equal points-per-match, a coin toss determines priority.
