The Ethics Cup 2024

12 schools from across England and Scotland converged on St Andrews on 23 May for a single-day, winner-take-all competition, debating cases like tactical voting, paid surrogacy and romantic relationships with chatbots. The championship match, pitting Manchester Grammar School against Trinity School, was judged by Professor Dame Sally Mapstone FRSE, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of St Andrews; Stella Maris, Rector of the University of St Andrews; and Alastair Merrill, VP for Governance at the University of St. Andrews. In a split decision, Trinity School emerged victorious and will take home the cup itself. Congratulations to them and to all participants on a stellar day of ethical discussions!
